Are you like me? Have you bought into the concept of going green but don’t want to break the bank doing it?

Ten years ago, I found myself on a quest to green my home. I was a parent of two small children and found myself living in doctor’s offices. Both of my kids had allergies, my son had bleeding eczema, and my wife had horrible asthma; she was a slave to her rescue inhaler. We were also obsessive cleaners and found out that the products we were cleaning my home with might be contributing to our family’s health issues.

In my quest to eliminate harmful chemicals from my home, I found myself spending ridiculous amounts of money on cleaning and personal care products that I knew were green and safe—but I didn’t find them particularly effective. I thought I had to pay a little more to be green and that although my home wasn’t as clean as I would have liked, it was safe. But, hey...I thought that was the green way.

Then I found a company that manufactures products that are safe and highly effective but don’t break the bank. I have been shopping with this company for almost 10 years and I couldn’t be happier. I now have products that work just as well as the toxic products I used to use but are safe for me, my family, and the environment. These products are not only less expensive than the high-priced green products I had switched to, but also less expensive than products I would typically buy at the grocery store.

I think everyone loves to save money, but more valuable to me as a parent was the opportunity to make my home safe. I now bring products into my home that do not require child resistant caps. This was important to me, since accidental poisoning is one of the top causes of childhood deaths in our country. For example, formaldehyde is an ingredient in many cleaning products, but also baby and kids products, shampoo, deodorant, and toothpaste.

I know every parent wants to make their home safe. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a safe home AND save money? In this tough economy, every penny counts.
